Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Conference championships kick off next weekend and that's when college football's bowl landscape will take shape.

USC could find itself back in Shreveport for the Independence Bowl, the same destination in 2014 when the Gamecocks defeated Miami 24-21 in Steve Spurrier's last bowl victory at USC.

Jerry Palm of CBS Sports currently has USC playing N.C. State in the Independence Bowl which puts an SEC team versus an ACC team on Dec. 26.

Other options for the Gamecocks include the Birmingham Bowl and the Belk Bowl in Charlotte.

Palm also is projecting Clemson will be ranked second in the college football playoff rankings which would put then in Glendale against Ohio State in a semi-final contest at the University of Phoenix Stadium, the same facility where the Tigers lost to Alabama in the national championship.
