LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Thomas McIlraith, Taylor Henry and Adam Atkins combined for a shutout as the Columbia Fireflies beat the Lexington Legends 4-0 on Monday.
McIlraith (1-0) picked up the win after he struck out three and walked one while allowing six hits over six scoreless innings. Jace Vines (7-3) went 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs and eight hits in the South Atlantic League game. He also struck out five and walked three.
In the top of the first, Columbia took the lead on a single by Dash Winningham that scored Andres Gimenez. The Fireflies then added two runs in the third and a run in the sixth. In the third, Jay Jabs hit a two-run home run, while Jacob Zanon hit an RBI single in the sixth.
Gimenez singled three times in the win.
The Legends were held scoreless for the sixth time this season, while the Fireflies' staff recorded their 10th shutout of the year.
