After a streak of 10 straight trips to the SCISA state finals ended in 2016, the Hammond Skyhawks have started on another streak.

The undefeated Skyhawks have rolled through the season unbeaten and will look to cap off an undefeated season with a win Saturday over Laurence Manning in the 3A state championship.

Head coach Erik Kimrey says there wasn't any overhaul in the program after last season's disappointment.

"Listen, we approached this year just like we approach any year which is get as good as we can possibly can get by the end of the year," Kimrey said.

"One of our goals was to win a state championship and we're here and we have an opportunity to do that. But we're playing a great Laurence Manning team that beat a very talented Ben Lippen team and they have our full attention."

A Hammond win would be the 15th state title for the program.
