Out at Heathwood Hall former Gamecock running back and Heathwood Hall football head coach Marcus Lattimore held the fourth annual First Choice Fit camp at the Hall Saturday afternoon.
It's the last camp before the real football camp starts as the high school season approaches. This will be his first season as the Highlanders head coach.
Summer camps like these are actually helping Lattimore become a better coach and he's also learning from one of the best to ever do it. Lattimore admires the way New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichik gets his roster to play selflessly even though everyone comes from different backgrounds and has different personalities.
"How does he do that? Because he has different ways of teaching and that's what I'm working on as a coach. Different ways to teach and realizing that everybody is different and everybody learns in different ways. So I'm sharpening up my axe every single time that I get to do one of these camps," Lattimore said.
"I try as much as possible to make sure that I'm figuring out different ways to coach different guys," Lattimore added.
The Highlanders open training camp for the 2017 season this coming Thursday.
