The college football and NFL season is just around the corner but high school Football is less than a week away and teams are competing in the preseason.

Saturday night Memorial Stadium hosted the Richland One Sports-A-Rama. 8 teams took the field for this high school football jamboree.

To kickoff the evening slate Lower Richland took on Hammond in two 10 minute halves of football.

Lower Richland would win 6-3. Hammond had a 3-0 lead at halftime but Tevaugh Higgins hit Ben Jackson for a 62 yard scoring strike in the second half which proved to be the game winner for the Diamond Hornets.

The end of the game was a little wacky. Hammond was attempting to tie the game with another field goal in the last seconds. The play wasn't live but Lower Richland rushed the ball at the snap and then stopped. The clock ran out and Hammond went into the endzone after a long delay but that's how the scrimmage ended.

The final game of the Richland One Sports-A-Rama featured the Dreher Blue Devils and the WJ Keenan Raiders. This matchup turned out to be the Jay Washington show.

Washington punches in a tough run from about 20 yards away to put the Blue Devils up 7-0 in the first half.

In the second half Washington recovered a fumble on defense and then finished off the drive with an impressive 30 yard carry down the sideline for another TD.

Washington leads the way as Dreher wins 14-0 over Keenan.

The high school football season kicksoff for area teams this coming Friday night.
