In youth sports there is a program that is producing some of the best track and field athletes in the state and they start them young. Team Blaze is a local AAU program that coaches kids ages 8-18.

This week a number of their high school athletes traveled to compete in the USTAF National Junior Olympics in Kansas this weekend. Their younger athletes will be in Detroit for the AAU national championships this weekend as well.

Warren Eure is one of the coaches for Team Blaze. The former Clemson sprinter track and Spring Valley grad is the Ridge View girls track head coach. He wants to help change the perception of track athletes in South Carolina through this track club.

"We want to put South Carolina on the map. When you think about track and field and speed you think of states like Florida, Georgia, Texas or even California. But we have a lot of here in South Carolina and we just want make sure that that talent is seen," Eure said. "That's why we take kids to Georgia and California or Texas and taking them to these big meets like AAU nationals, USTAF nationals so they can actually see the type of talent that's out there in the world and for the world to see the talent that's in South Carolina."
