Muschamp's Spurs Up Tour Continues

USC head football coach Will Muschamp was at The Zone Tuesday night as fans came to get an autograph from the coach and hear where the program stands just a few weeks after the end of spring practice.

Will Muschamp sees a nice trajectory for his program, but that doesn't mean it has arrived.

USC's third-year head football coach was at The Zone at Williams-Brice Stadium Tuesday night, a place that is electric on Saturdays in the fall. There is a lot of optimism in the Carolina camp. While Muschamp continues to build his program, the administration continues to build new structures which can only help on the recruiting trail.

"Obviously we're 0-0, so we haven't lost yet which is a good thing," Muschamp joked.

"Thought we had a good spring. i really like the direction and vision of our program with the new operations facility coming on, our living facility, 650 Lincoln. Having some recruits on campus this weekend puts it in perspective, the compliments you get from parents and recruits about the living situation and our beautiful campus ... The indoor (facility) which as nice as there is in the country, There are a lot of positives going on, but I credit Coach Tanner and the vision we have in our program right now, We're investing in our student-athletes and that's what people want to see."

People also want to see progress being made and when Muschamp followed up a 6-7 season with a 9-4 campaign, that opened some eyes and there is some early talk that Carolina is a trendy darkhorse pick for the Eastern Division. A far cry from when Muschamp took over the program in December of 2015 and his first Spurs Up Tour in the spring of 2016 was where he felt the disappointment of the fan base which had just a few years ago seen 11-win seasons.

"Well, we're better. There's no doubt," Muschamp said.

"As positive as everyone is in our program and our fan-base is ultra-positive and everybody is right now, it wasn't very positive back then. I remember. So we've made some strides, we've made some progress. But at the end of the day, we still haven't accomplished anything. So, that's what have to continue to strive for and that's what we're going to do."
