A special moment for one Jacob Olson on Friday night. He hit his first home run of the year for USC in their season opener against VMI.

Once the ball cleared the fence and went into the left field stands he pointed to the sky after he come to home plate to honor his little cousin Brody Ruchti. Brody died of a fatal accidental gun shot in late December.

Not only did Jacob dedicate the home run to Brody but he also has a tattoo on his forearm to honor his memory.

Jacob says that swing is moment that will stay with him for a long time.

"It's a really hard to put that into words how I was feeling. It was a feeling that I will never top that. That was unbelievable. I know Brody was looking down on me smiling," Olson said.

"His momma told me in the first home run I hit to tell him, to look up and tell him so that was a huge moment for me," Olson added.

The Gamecocks had a late rally fall short in a 7-6 decision to VMI in the series opener but Jacob will have another chance to honor Brody as game two starts at noon on Saturday.
