Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The South Carolina Gamecocks are headed to the Outback Bowl where they'll play Michigan.

The Gamecocks learned Sunday afternoon they will play in the New Year's Day contest against the Wolverines. It's a rematch of the epic 2013 matchup where USC won 33-28. The game featured that famous play where USC's Jadeveon Clowney tackled a Michigan runner behind the line of scrimmage, forced a fumble, then recovered the football.

The Outback Bowl is set for noon and will be broadcast on ESPN 2 in Tampa.

The Gamecocks (8-4) just completed their best season since 2013. It's their first winning season since 2014. (Last year, they finished 6-7 after losing their bowl game)

This is the fifth time overall the Gamecocks have played in the Outback Bowl. They're 3-1 all time in the game.
