South Carolina Gamecocks tight end Hayden Hurst (81) makes a 62-yard touchdown reception as Arkansas Razorbacks defensive back De'Andre Coley (20) pursues in the first half at Williams-Brice Stadium.

(WLTX) -- One of the NFL Network's draft analysts has ranked a former South Carolina Gamecock player as the top player at the position of tight end.

Mike Mayock ranks Gamecocks' TE Hayden Hurst as the number one player at his position, in the 2018 NFL Draft. Mayock ranks Hurst ahead of South Dakota State's Dallas Goedert and Penn State's Mike Gesicki.

The 25-year-old Hurst finished the 2017 season as the Gamecocks' second leading receiver, with 44 receptions for 559 yards, and two touchdowns, earning first-team All-SEC honors. He announced that he would forgo his senior year to enter this year's draft.

CBS Sports' experts do not agree with Mayock, ranking Hurst as the seventh-ranked tight end available.

The NFL Draft is April 26-28 in Arlington, Texas.
