There were two important streaks that came to an end for the Hammond Skyhawks in 2016.

Their 27-game winning streak was snapped in September and after 10 straight years of playing in the SCISA 3A state championship game, that too, also came to an end. Both streaks were ended by the eventual state champion - Ben Lippen.

But as preparation begin for the 2017 season, Kimrey says there is no reason to make drastic changes in the way he runs his program.

"You know, we've got a healthy culture here," Kimrey said.

"We're trying to win with Hammond kids and do it the Hammond way. We've built that over the years and it's been a proven success and we're not going to change how we do things because other people are doing things a little differently."

The Skyhawks kick off the season August 26 at home against Spartanburg Christian. They will travel to Ben Lippen on September 9.
