South Carolina State is in the market for a new athletics director.

Paul Bryant is leaving his position in Orangeburg after three years to take over the athletics program at Grambling State.

He previously served as athletic director at Stillman College in Alabama and Eureka College in Illinois.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I have had at SC State University," Bryant said in a statement.

"I want to thank the administration and athletic staff for their support and for believing in my vision to build a strong athletics program that is committed to the success of our student-athletes.”

S.C. State President James Clark has not yet selected Bryant’s replacement and a search is imminent.

“I thank Paul Bryant for his service to SC State University," Clark said.

'And I wish his family continued success as he pursues this significant opportunity presented to him.”

Bryant would be Grambling State's first permanent AD in more than two years. Like South Carolina State, Bryant would oversee a program whose football program has a rich tradition.
