It was homecoming in every sense of the word Saturday in Orangeburg as South Carolina State hosted Delaware State.

S.C. State was scheduled to open the season with four road games. However, the Oct. 1 home game with Bethune-Cookman was postponed due to Hurricane Matthew. That was followed by an open date and a road game against Howard.

So on October 22, the Bulldogs finally played their first game at Dawson-Bulldog Stadium and perhaps fittingly, it was homecoming.

The Bulldogs would perform at a high level for the fans, defeating Delaware State 30-3.

S.C. State opened the scoring with a double pass from quarterback Adrian Kollock to Dewann Ford who tossed it back to Kollock for a 14-yard scoring play.

The Bulldogs extended their lead to 17-0 in the second quarter on Dondre Brown's three-yard touchdown. S.C. State scored its third touchdown of the day on a 41-yard touchdown pass from Caleb York to De'Montrez Burroughs which gave the home team a 27-0 lead.
