USC will finish eighth in the SEC, that according to the preseason media poll which was released Wednesday.

No Gamecock was named to the preseason All-SEC first or second teams.

At the SEC Tipoff in Nashville, USC head basketball coach Frank Martin noticed that senior guards Sindarius Thornwell and Duane Notice did not receive a spot on the preseason all-conference list.

"i was disappointed that the media members in the SEC didn't give those two guys credit in their preseason voting," Martin said.

"Both them have received awards from this conference over their careers for their actions and their ability to win in this conference. i was disappointed for Sindarius and Duane. I wasn't disappointed for our team. I was disappointed for them because I think they've proven that they're two of the better players in this conference."

Kentucky was the media choice to win the league followed by Florida, Texas A&M and Georgia to complete the first four.

Arkanas, who has the preseason Player of the Year in forward Moses Kingsley, has been predicted to finish fifth followed by Vanderbilt, Alabama and Carolina.

The rest of the poll is Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee and Missouri.

Martin took notice of how his team is being perceived.

'What matters is when the season ends," Martin said.

"To me, that's the only thing that's ever mattered and we'll see what happens when we get there."
