USC head football coach Will Muschamp knows what he wants out of preseason drills and when the pads go on, that's when the coaches find out who is willing to pay the price.

Muschamp spoke on the physical nature of the practices and how that translates to success down the road.

"Camp’s a grind and it’s going to be tough and hard," Muschamp said.

"I’ve scripted the first 11 practices to our first scrimmage. It’s been scripted a certain way for a reason, to be physical and have to battle through that. I met with our seniors … championship teams that I’ve been a part of embrace camp. They understood we’re going to practice no matter what. The schedule’s not changing, so embrace that part of the camp. Embrace the grind and the toughness of what you’ve got to go through. The average teams I've been a part of b-----d about camp and that's the bottom line."

One of those seniors, linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams, knows what Muschamp expects.

"We've got to come ready to work," he said.

"We can't have any off days. Can't have any lax days because those are the days Coach is going to get on us and we don't want to have that. Us seniors, we have to take it upon ourselves to really motivate the team. When we look a little sluggish out there, we've got to tell guys 'Come on, let's pick it up'. We know what our goals are. We know what we're trying to achieve and we've got to go get it."
