COLUMBIA, S.C. — Traffic is moving again on Monticello Road after a dump truck accident and fuel leak slowed traffic in the area Wednesday morning.
Officials say a vehicle hit a dump truck on Monticello Road at Peeples Street, near I-20 sometime before 8:45 a.m. Wednesday morning. The accident resulted in fuel spilling on the road.
The Columbia Fire Department said it worked with the S.C. Department of Health & Environmental Control (SCDHEC) and the S.C. Department of Transportation (SCDOT) to mitigate the fuel spill and clear the accident.
The accident was cleared sometime before noon, according to Lance Cpl. David Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
There was no word on possible injuries.
