Hail in Lexington County Near 378

GILBERT, S.C. — A rainy first day of May brought with it a shower of a different kind on Sunday evening.

Several News19 viewers shared photos and videos of hail falling in parts of Lexington County - particularly in the area of Batesburg-Leesville and Gilbert.

And, in some cases, these weren't tiny pebbles of ice. A thunderstorm in the area brought some hailstones ranging from roughly one inch in the Leesville area to what appears to be a whopping two-and-a-half inch stone on the Saluda County line.

The storm also didn't lack in quantity for many with yards in Leesville and in the Lake Murray Village area seemingly covered in a snow-like powder of smaller stones.

Here are just a few of the photos that viewers shared with News19 on Sunday to commemorate this interesting spring event.
