COLUMBIA, S.C. — Our week is starting off with a nice stretch of warm and sunny weather thanks to an area of high pressure located just to our south. As this high is in control through midweek, expect temperatures to get a touch warmer every day.

Today will be sunny with a light southwesterly breezy. Temperatures will climb quickly after the chilly start to the day. Expect 70s by lunchtime and high temperatures near 80° in the afternoon.

Skies will remain clear overnight under calm winds. Expect low temperatures dropping to near 50° Tuesday morning.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly sunny with highs climbing closer to the mid-80s with lows in the mid 50s.

By Thursday, we will begin tracking a cold front to our west that will slowly approach the area. A few showers and maybe a storm or two are possible Thursday afternoon and evening. There is a better chance for some rain and storms on Friday.

The increased cloud cover and chance for rain will knock temperatures down a bit for the end of the week. Highs will be in the low 80s on Thursday and upper 70s on Friday.

Unfortunately, we do keep a chance of rain into next weekend though there is still some uncertainty as to the exact timing of any wet weather and where the front will stall out. Temperatures look to stay near or slightly above normal next weekend with low temperatures in the upper 50s and highs in the mid to upper 70s.
