Email Ashleigh

Ashleigh Walters was thrilled to join the WLTX-TV team in March of 2008. As her parents will tell you, she was born with pencil and paper in hand, so journalism was the perfect career choice.

Before coming to the Midlands, Ashleigh worked at KUSA-TV in Denver as a producer and interviewer on a magazine-style show called “Colorado & Company.” She interviewed celebrities, authors, local business owners and even presented original art projects to viewers in her segment “Art with Ashleigh.” Among a long list of favorites, some of her memorable interviewees include Jamie Foxx, Sylvester Stallone, Jessica Biel, Dakota Fanning, Jim Lehrer, Kevin Bacon and L. Paul Bremer who was the Ambassador to Iraq.

Ashleigh was an intern with the investigative unit at KUSA for two consecutive semesters while at the University of Colorado at Boulder. At CU, she earned a degree in Broadcast News, a degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Painting, and a minor in Business Administration. She also received the Colorado Broadcasters Association Scholarship, the Nonie Lann Academic Scholarship, and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Academic Scholarship. She served as the president of the Society of Professional Journalists Student Chapter at CU for a year and a half.

Having lived in Southern California and Colorado, Ashleigh is excited to live in a state with both mountains and beaches. In her spare time, she enjoys drawing, painting, reading, skiing, swing dancing and enjoying the beautiful and varied landscape that South Carolina has to offer.
