Scott Ryan
METEOROLOGIST
(AMS-sealed)

Email Scott

As a child growing up in the countryside of northeastern Pennsylvania, Scott developed a strong fascination in weather from an early age. From thunderstorms to blizzards, the northeast offered a variety of weather events to spark Scott's curiosity. Scott was determined to pursue these interests by enrolling at Penn State University, one of the top meteorology schools in the country.

After receiving his Bachelors in Meteorology in 2000, Scott was off to Sioux City, Iowa for his first TV job. It was an eye opener and great experience. Scott's work at KMEG-TV, the CBS station in Sioux City found him forecasting the utmost extremes in weather including -50 wind chills, tornado outbreaks, and incredible 120+ degree heat waves.

In April 2002, Scott stepped up to Columbia TV for the milder winters and the humid summers that are common to South Carolinians. He started off working weekend evenings, but has now found his spot in the mornings forecasting weather. While the hours can be tough, Scott loves the atmosphere of the morning show. Along with the enthusiastic duo of Curtis and Nat, Scott helps start your morning on the right foot five days a week. With his energetic personality and color graphics, he's always there to help you plan for your day.

After migrating from the north, Scott and his wife, Marni, couldn't be happier with the warmer climate. And, it's the perfect place for him to pursue one of his greatest hobbies -- Golf! He has come to the right place...and, as a meteorologist, he always knows the best times to play!
