REPORTER

email sharie

Click your heels. Close your eyes. Now repeat after Sharie “There’s no place like home!” Sharie Harvin first opened her eyes in Sumter, South Carolina twenty something years ago. “Home is safe. How many people do what they love around those they love?”

Sharie joined News 19 in April 2007. Her TV career started in 2003 in Jackson, Mississippi. There, she worked as a Producer at WLBT. Sharie was also a Reporter for ABC6 in Greenville, Mississippi. She covered everything from B-B King concerts to March of Dimes Telethons. Sharie broke the latest spot news by day, and caressed the air waves with the “Quiet Storm” by night.

“Radio winded me down after a deadline driven news day” she adds.

Sharie graduated from the historic Rust College where she pledged her love to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. The UNCF School sailed her to Goree Island in The Gambia, West Afrika. She’s also done mission work in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

“My ultimate goal is to travel the world as a Freelance Reporter. I love learning other cultures. Someone somewhere has a secret that could save the world. I want to share their story.”
