Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Hundreds of fans got to go on the field at Williams-Brice Stadium Saturday for the Gamecock Fan Fest.
"This is awesome, it's my first time," said Gail Nelson.
Fans got to play games, put on jerseys. and even kick field goals. Briana Holmes says she enjoyed it all.
"Just have fun like a regular kid," said Holmes.
But for some they had a different goal in mind.
"Get pictures with cheerleaders," said 13 year old Antonio Martinez.
"Take pictures with cheerleaders," said 11 year old Gabe Tidwell.
For older fans like Rodney McClure, they are looking forward to seeing what the team can do this year.
"I think we can build on it, we lost some good players but we got a bunch coming back and we are getting stronger every year so I am hoping we can get back to Atlanta," said McClure.
"No doubt, they got it in the bag," said Nelson.
Dean Bailes and his son Tanner came out to have fun on the field and Dean says he has big expectations this year.
"This is a great experience we are here to support our Gamecocks after a 2011 season that we were unbelievably surprised by we are ready for 2012," said Bailes.
And for Nelson she says she is just happy the kids got to have this experience.
"This is our future team right here, so its awesome," said Nelson.
The event was held just before the Gamecock football team's annual spring game.
