Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- This Sunday will mark Eric Hyman's seventh anniversiary as USC's athletics director. It will also mark the beginning of Texas A&M's tenure in the SEC.

It appears those two dates are part of the backdrop in a story that could directly affect the future of USC athletics.

Reports out of College Station, Tex. say Hyman is leaving Columbia after seven years to become the new athletics director at Texas A&M. Both the Houston Chronicle and the San Antonio News-Express quote sources saying Hyman has been picked as the Aggies new leader.

Hyman was in Columbia Thursday and when asked by News19 about the speculation surrounding the job, Hyman said he wouldn't be commenting on any stories linking him to the Aggie job or any future openings at other schools.

Hyman was at TCU before coming to USC in July of 2005.  He also is a former athletics director at Miami of Ohio and VMI.

Under Hyman's watch, the USC athletics department has enjoyed unprecedented success in its baseball and football programs. The women's basketball team recently earned its first NCAA bid since 2003 and while he has yet to coach a game at USC, Frank Martin's arrival has been callled a "home-run hire" by national commentators.

Last year, Hyman received a $75,000 raise to bring his salary to almost $500,000. His contract ran through 2015.

His hiring at Texas A&M would bring Hyman back to the Lonestar State, but would have him at the controls of a program that is making the move from the Big 12 to the SEC.
