You're Not Safe from a Deer Even While Running

A cross-country runner had a close encounter with a deer.

Center Valley, PA (APTN) - A cross-country runner in the Pennsylvania finished a regional race after he was knocked off his feet by a deer at DeSales University.

The incident in Center Valley was captured on video.

Gwynedd Mercy University senior Justin DeLuzio was competing in the eight kilometer (4.9 mile) race through a field when someone yelled: "Watch out for the deer."

A deer struck DeLuzio in the stomach and he fell to the ground as more deer ran across the course.

A teammate helped DeLuzio to his feet and he then went on to finish the race.

The team says DeLuzio was bruised but otherwise fine.
