Charleston, SC SC (WCBD, WLTX) - A South Carolina 16-year-old  is skipping her undergraduate work in college and going right to graduate school.

Kira Adkins has just gotten accepted into pharmacy school at the Medical University of South Carolina.

She's currently a senior at Academic Magnet High School near Charleston. She took advanced placement classes in high school as well as college classes at Trident Technical College that allowed her to complete all of her undergraduate work early.

"I definitely didn't want to be in school longer than I had to so I just said 'alright, well if I can get it done in only four years and become a doctor, then I definitely will do it in four years after I graduate instead of making it six or five years,'" she explained.

She then took the PCAT, the test to get into pharmacy school, and applied for early admission. She starts pharmacy school in the summer.

But first things first: she'll officially graduate from high school in June.
