I love numbers! If there’s one thing I love doing, it’s finding out statistics, and especially if it involves the weather.

What prompted this latest inquiry was the 5 consecutive Saturdays w/rain streak that we currently have going. I was curious as to what has been the rainiest day of the week since records began. So, I whipped up a quick computer program to find it out...

These statistics are for the Columbia Metro Airport from July 1, 1887 to Present
Approximately 44,169 days on record (about 6,310 weeks)

Rainiest Day of Week:

MONDAY & TUESDAY – only 16 each with measurable snow out 6305 (about once every 7 years)

Day with Most Measurable Snowfall
THURSDAY – 48.0” of snow has fallen on this day since 1887

Strangely, out of all those records, Wednesday and Friday seem to be the most average as they didn’t place in any category.

So, what are all of these useless weather stats good for...about one blog...
