The Buddy Call 19 program encourages all participants to recognize that breast self-examination (BSE) is just one part of a very important three-part program - breast examination by a physician, routine screening mammography and breast self-examination - that is recommended by national health organizations.

As an active participant in the Buddy Call 19 program, you are taking a major step toward managing your health. You and your buddy are working together - with one another - and with thousands of women in the Midlands.

• Sign up.
• Choose a Buddy Call 19 program partner (a friend, relative or co-worker).
• Place a Buddy Call 19 sticker on your calendar as a reminder to call your Buddy on the 19th of each month to make sure that she has done her monthly breast self-exam.
• Use the enclosed BSE shower card.
• Give your Buddy one of the enclosed shower cards and a set of Buddy Call 19 stickers for her own use.
• Be sure to send in the postage-paid registration card to ensure that additional information is sent to you.
• Call (803) 647-0216 to re-register when your first year of participation is coming to an end. You can also re-register online.
