Share Our Suzy met at MoMo's Bistro on Devine Street in Columbia on Sept. 16, 2010.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Share Our Suzy is an organization founded on the principal of making sure every breast cancer patient has the funds he or she needs to focus solely on their health.

On the night of Sept. 16, Share Our Suzy had the help of accomplished author Jane Green, when she appeared at MoMo's Bistro on Devine Street.

"A very good friend was diagnosed with breast cancer in March, and she turned to me a few weeks into treatment, and said 'I hope you're going to write about this,'" said Green.

And that's exactly what she's done.

"I came up with the story of two sisters, one married with a good life and everything going her way, and the younger sister is a little more wayward. And it is the older sister who gets sick," said Green.

"Breast cancer touches so many, and everyone I meet has had some experience," said Green.

But the conversation isn't about treatment or doctors' appointments.

"I think that instead of remembering the down times, it's giving people a chance to remember how good it feels to pull together and have fun," said Shani Gilchrist.

The cocktails and the conversation continued in hopes of eventually finding a cure. Share Our Suzy aided those with bridging the financial gap from diagnosis to remission.

Funds raised are used to provide assistance to those with everyday needs such as wigs, prosthetics, childcare, gas cards, utility bill assistance, medication assistance and more.
