Fire Station Chili

serves 8

Cooking Time: 45 min

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 pounds ground beef

1/3 cup chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 (16-ounce) cans red kidney beans, drained

Instructions:
1. In a large pot, heat oil over medium-high heat; saute onion and garlic 5 minutes, or until tender. Add ground beef and brown 8 to 10 minutes, or until no pink remains; drain off excess liquid.

2. Add remaining ingredients; mix well.

3. Reduce heat to low and cover; simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve immediately.

Note:
For a spicy kick, add 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce to the other ingredients.
