Lee County, SC (WLTX) - If you drive down Green Lane in Lee County you'll see Travon Pearson shooting hoops behind his grandmother's home - a 15-year-old kid, dribbling on dirt, but he sees something entirely different.
"I want to go to the NBA. Sometimes I just play in the backyard thinking I'm in the NBA and stuff like that,” he said.
He's running down a dream, beating his defender, crossing up his next opponent, draining the three-point shot and even driving down the lane for a slam dunk.
"I want to go to North Carolina and play for North Carolina for a little bit. After that I just want to go to the pros [and] get drafted to the Cavaliers or the Boston Celtics,” he said.
While he's not even in high school, that dream may not be out of his reach. Pearson is over seven feet tall.
His father, Joe Joye Jr., said he’ll support him no matter what, but wants to make sure that Travon focuses on school.
"If you can't keep your grades up, you're not going to play. I think an education can take you farther than ball. You might go out there and start playing ball and hurt yourself. If you've got an education, you fall into other fields and do other things with your life,” said Joye.
Anything can happen in the years ahead, but it looks like Travon has his eyes on his future.
