Gamecocks Pickup SCISA Miss South Carolina Out Of Charleston

COLUMBIA, SC β€” Dawn Staley's Gamecocks will be guard heavy next season but tonight she added some depth to the forward position with a late pickup and this player is from South Carolina.

Northwood Academy's Elysa Wesolek announced on Twitter that she has signed with the Gamecocks.

This is a flip for USC. Elysa was committed to Western Kentucky but decommitted, reopened her recruitment and after an official visit to Columbia she chose the Gamecocks.

Elysa was named SCISA Miss Basketball this past season for the Northwood Academy Chargers in Charleston. That award is the highest honor for a girls basketball player in the SCISA ranks.

The 6'1" forward scored over 1,000 career points, won three-state championships and is rated as a three-star top 50 prospect in her class by ESPN.

With Elysa and fellow signee Victoria Saxton on board Dawn will have six forwards on her roster this comng season.
