Like most high-level swimmers, Nathan Walton has had two coaches who have helped groom him - Brookland-Cayce swim coach Christian Mowles and Heath Edwards from Palmetto Aquatics, the club team that gives Walton year-round competition.
To get to the point where a Division I scholarship comes your way means there have been countless hours in the pool, usually before dawn and many times it is more than a short drive. Unlike football fields or basketball courts that are at every school, finding a pool to use on a near daily basis is a little more challenging.
In the classroom, Nathan has a grade point average well above of 4.0 and it ranks seventh in the senior class. He plans on majoring in international business at USC.
