Argument Over Liquor Bottle Results in Shooting Death

Sumter, SC -- The Sumter County Sheriff responded to a call of a shooting late Tuesday night at a residence on Murphy Street.

Following the 11PM call, Deputies arrived at the home, where they found 26-year-old Shamarr Howell dead on the front porch due to a gunshot wound.

Jeffrey Dana Andrews, 50, listed as the resident of that Sumter address, was at the home and admitted to Deputies that he had gotten into an argument with Howell over a liquor bottle, and the victim had been shot during the argument.

Andrews was placed under arrest for Murder, and transported to the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
