Ashleigh Messervy joined News19 in July 2010 as a reporter and works with HighSchoolSports.net.
Messervy is originally from Summerville, where she displayed an early knack for sports, playing soccer, basketball, and running track at Summerville High School. She was named South Carolina's "Miss Soccer" her senior year and Player of the Year, and signed a scholarship to play soccer for the USC Gamecocks.
Messervy graduated from USC with a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in criminal justice. While in college, she studied abroad in Costa Rica where she taught English to orphans.
As a Gamecock grad, she loves covering USC sports, and says her most memorable moment in her career was watching USC take down top-ranked Alabama in 2010. But it's not just the football team she enjoys covering. She says she loves interviewing young super stars who excel both on and off the field. She especially likes stories where the underdog comes out of nowhere and steals the show!
When she's not at work, she enjoys playing tennis, working deep sea fishing, travelling and trying new things.
