Columbia, SC (AP) -- Prosecutors, paramedics and law enforcement officers at a training session on child deaths will hear from someone with some tragic first hand experience.
Susan Smith's former husband David Smith is scheduled to speak Tuesday at the workshop in Columbia sponsored by the State Law Enforcement Division.
David Smith lost his two sons, 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alex, when their mother left them strapped in their car seats as she let her car roll into a Union County lake in 1994. Susan Smith is serving a life sentence after being convicted of murder.
David Smith has remarried and has children with his new wife, but he has said what happened to his sons will always haunt him.
