Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- According to representatives at Vision Airlines, the company will offer service to Destin, FL, near the northwest Gulf Coast of the Sunshine State.

Vision Airlines officials say those who book a flight from Jan. 18 to Jan. 23 will be offered a low-price introductory rate of $49 for a one-way ticket. They say the regular cost will be $89 for a one-way ticket, and $188 for a round trip.

Company officials say the service is scheduled to start on April 1, and they will offer the flight twice a week from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport, CAE, to the Northwest Florida Regional Airport, VPS. The flights will use a Boeing 737-400, which features 148 seats, according to Vision Airlines officials.

Organizers say the goal of the service is to boost tourism, increase convenience to travellers in Columbia and stimulate the job market and economy.

Promoters say Destin features 24 miles of shoreline, 1,080 holes worth of golf courses, the "World's Luckiest Fishing Village," and the dolphins of Florida's "Gulfarium."
