Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County deputies have arrested a South Carolina corrections officer who they say had stolen goods at his home.

Officers arrested 47-year-old Robert George Miller of Elgin is charged with possession of stolen property over $10,000.

Deputies say last Friday, they served a warrant at Miller's home. Investigators say they found a stash of stolen property, including a 4-wheeler, two welders, a generator, a riding lawn mower, and 34 guns, 5 of which officers say were stolen.

Miller was arrested without incident, and is currently free on bond.

Sheriff Jim Matthews says Miller is a lieutenant at the Kershaw Correctional Institution in Lancaster County. Corrections officials were notified of the investigation before the arrest, and assisted deputies.

"It's always disappointing when someone associated with law enforcement breaks the laws we work hard to enforce," said Sheriff Matthews in a written statement.  "My investigators are working closely with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) to determine the status of all 34 weapons. Without serial numbers this is a very lengthy process."
