Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Fans wrapped around the gates after Saturday's Gamecocks football game, waiting to get their chance to step out on to the field for Fan Fest. Many say, it was well worth the wait.
"Well I remember my dad taking me to Carolina events as a kid and now I have the opportunity to pass this on to my son," Reeves Cannon says. "Oh he's thrilled he's been talking about this, all week I've been building this up and he's been asking me every night, do we get to go to the Gamecock stadium tomorrow?"
"This is amazing!" Jayne Dawson says. "I've been to Carolina games my whole life, my Dad brought me here when I was little, and I've always wanted to be on the field and this is a dream come true for me it's awesome."
"You get to like throw footballs and you get to try to kick a field goal," John-Paul Lowrimore says.
"Just to see them excited you know, it's just the world," Marie Thompson says."He just eats, lives, sleeps the Gamecock football program."
"My husband dragged us out here, he loves Gamecocks, he loves Gamecocks he went to USC and he absolutely just loves it, and so we just, we had to come," Ebony Kelly says.
"Oh it's for the kids, no, me the kid at heart," her husband, Willie Kelly, says. "It's a, you know, fun-filled event for the entire family, and you know, something we can just enjoy doing together."
"Just passing on the Gamecock legacy and being a part of the Gamecock family is real exciting," Cannon says.
Fan say this event helped them kick of their football spirit.
