Victor Hampton No Longer with USC Football Team

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - USC defensive back Victor Hampton is no longer with the football team, school officials confirmed.

Team officials did not elaborate on a reason why he was no longer with the school.

Hampton, who's from Darlington, was redshirted in 2011.

He was a highly recruited player in the class of 2010, and was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He initially committed to Florida, but switched before National Signing Day.

USC's sports website, GamecocksOnline, said of Hampton: "very competitive player with all the physical tools... very good explosion in change of direction... needs to learn the defensive system to garner playing time in the fall."
