Daniel Rickenmann Won't Seek Reelection to City Council

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia City Councilman Daniel Rickenmann announced Monday he will not seek reelection.

Rickenmann made his plans public at a Monday afternoon news conference at City Hall. Rickenmann holds one of the city's two at-large seats.

His term was set to expire on July 30, 2012.

Rickenmann was first elected to the city council in 2004, and he won reelection in 2008.

A local entrepreneur, he owns MoMo's Bistro and is a partner in several real estate ventures around Columbia, and a new business venture, Waste2Energy LLC, described as a "waste to value" company.

The University of South Carolina graduate is married and has two daughters, according to his Columbia city biography page.
