Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The 1500 block Gervais Street was closed Wednesday after a wreck left one man injured and a utility pole knocked to the ground.
Brick Lewis with the City of Columbia and Columbia Fire Department said the section of Gervais Street between Bull Street and Pickens Street was closed for several hours.
He said a utility pole in the area was knocked down during a Wednesday afternoon accident.
Columbia police say a vehicle was travelling away from Columbia on Gervais Street toward Bull Street, when the car struck a utility pole. The injured driver was taken to the hospital, but medical officials don't believe that the man's injuries were life-threatening.
According to officials, employees of South Carolina Electric and Gas responded to the scene to repair the fallen utility pole.
