Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- As Marcus Lattimore prepares for his sophomore season, he does so with the stated goal of winning college football's highest individual award.

Lattimore burst onto the national scene in 2010, breaking Harold Green's single-season touchdown record (17) with 19 scores and in the process, rushed for 1,197 yards, the third-highest total in one year behind George Rogers who recorded 1,681 yards in 1979 and 1,894 yards in his 1980 Heisman Trophy-winning season.

For Lattimore, the goal is to follow in Rogers' footsteps and hopefully, become the second player in USC history to win the Heisman. He has added 15 pounds to his frame, thanks to some hard work in the weight room. No doubt Lattimore hopes that will pay dividends in the fourth quarter when opposing defenses are wearing down.

After a year's experience, Lattimore says the game has slowed down for him, which means he has become comfortable in the offense and that indeed could mean more success for him in 2011.
