Eastover, SC (WLTX) -- Volunteers headed out to the Camp McCrady Training Center in Eastover to show their love and appreciation for our troops.
With each roll of her brush, Willaree Simon hope to create another home for men and women serving our country.
"I'm not a professional but I love everything I do and so I just wanna make sure that when the troops come in that everything is nice and perfect for them," said Willaree Simon, a Lowe's Home Improvement Volunteer.
She's worked on projects with the company for the last six years, but none that have allowed her to give back to those who fight for our freedom, including many of her friends and loved ones.
With the help of more than 40 volunteers from Lowe's and donations of services and resources the USO, or United Service Organizations, plans to transform the Grubbs Dinner facility as a way to support U.S. troops, and say thank you.
"It wasn't even hard to sign people up a lot of them just poured their emotions out and said hey let me go out there and help," Brad Karwoski with Lowe's. He says nine Midlands stores pulled together for the project.
"Make sure that they know that they have no been forgotten, that they're loved and appreciated and that they have a place just to sit down and take a load off," said Joanie Thresher, South Carolina's USO Director
The groups want to give troops a place to take a break, and connect with family and friends.
"It's gonna be a lot of love so I feel great," said Simon of their efforts.
Spending time in Germany and Iraq, Sgt. Adrien Clark has served in the Army for the last twelve years. He knows first hand what the work of the USO and its volunteers means for those serving.
"It's definitely an encouragement as far as morale, to get a break from the norm, the normalcy, a chance to get an outlet," said Clark.
An escape that Simon and other volunteers are all to happy to provide.
"I'm excited and when the process is done and we actually see what we've done it's gonna be good," said Simon.
The USO will hold a private grand opening for troops in September.
