Columbia, SC (WLTX) - New billboards have gone up around Columbia saying, "Don't believe in God? You are not alone."
The messages are on a digital billboard at the corner of Blossom and Pulaski Streets near USC's campus and on Interstate 20 West near Monticello Road in Richland County. They feature the words on an image of a blue sky and clouds.
A group called the Columbia Coalitions of Reason (Columbia CoR), which got their funding from the national organization United Coalition of Reason, sponsored the billboards.
The billboards, according to Columbia CoR, are designed to reach out to what they're calling "non-theists."
"We hope people will discover that we are a regular part of the community," said Dustin Tucker, coordinator of the Columbia Coalition of Reason, in a statement. "Atheists and agnostics like us live all over South Carolina. We're your friends, your neighbors, your coworkers and family members. One of us might even be sitting in the pew next to you in church."
The United Coalition of Reason has put up similar billboards across the U.S. for the last two years. The ones in Columbia will be up through mid-December, according to Columbia CoR.
