Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The day before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days of the year for Pizza Hut.
"Well I worked all day and I am not going home to cook because I just have too much stuff to do," said Robin Lane.
For people like Lane, the day before Thanksgiving can be hectic, but that isn't an excuse to not have dinner on the table.
"Traditional Thanksgiving requires cooking, cleaning, decorating, to get ready for family coming in," said Lane.
"A lot of people have family in town so they don't want to leave the house. They got turkeys cooking and stuff cooking at the house so they call for delivery so we can take it out to them," said Pizza Hut Manager Melissa Adams.
For many families in the Midlands dinner tonight came from the "Hut." Adams says its one of their busiest days.
"We all get here early, get the people in place and we get the stuff ready, we double up everything so we can be prepared for that business," said Adams.
She says its like a Friday night atmosphere, so they have to have more people on staff.
"We do about double the business the day before Thanksgiving than we do on a normal Wednesday."
On the day before Thanksgiving, Pizza Hut customers will order 2.4 million pounds of pizza, which is the equivalent of 151,000 pounds of turkey.
"That way we can be ready when it hits. Usually when people get off work and when they get home they just come and order here so they dont have to deal with it later."
And for Lane its the quickest way to get a good meal.
"You know its close and convenient and everyone loves pizza so hooray for Pizza Hut," said Lane.
