Blythewood, SC (WLTX) - Some of the world's best singers and musicians have performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, and soon you can add a Midlands high school choir to that list.

The students in the Blythewood High School Choir are bound together by more than their voices but by one single dream and a once in a life time experience.

Don Kirkindoll is the director of choral studies and considers his kids more than just students.

"When I started this program 4 years ago," explained Kirkindoll, "not in my wildest dreams, did I ever think we'd be going to Carnegie Hall. This group has bonded like a true family."

Like any proud family member, he decided to brag a bit about all this young talent at a conference and his words made it to the right ears.

"They asked me to put together an audition package, which I got together, and they got back to me the same day."

On January 16th, 2012, they've been invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York

"To hear that we were going to Carnegie Hall in NY was just a really big honor and just super exciting!" said choir president Lauren Goodwin.

The choir will sing with a professional orchestra and have the honor of singing the world premier of "The Peacemakers", composed by Karl Jenkins. But they need your help.

"The cost is quite significant for the students," explained Kirkindoll.

Fourty-three students and seven adults will be leaving for New York on January 12, on a chartered bus. The price tag is $1,200 per student, totaling about $60,000. So far the students have raised half of that.

Until the holidays, you can find them seven days a week wrapping presents and singing at Santa's Village at Sandhill.

"It'd make our dreams come true," said student Clyde Moser, "so if they're able to come out to Sandhill, and let us wrap their presents and give us any amount of money that they're able to give, every dollar counts."

By letting theses students wrap your gift, you're also giving them theirs.

Their fundraising hours are Monday - Friday: 4 - 8pm, Saturday: 1- 8pm, and Sunday: 1 - 5pm.

Donations in the form of a check can also be sent to the Blythewood High School at 10901 Wilson Boulevard Blythewood, SC 29016. The checks should be made out to BHS Choir Boosters.
