Columbia, SC (WLTX) - As the race for the GOP Presidential nomination heats up, Midlands residents are being bombarded with campaign phone calls.
For the past few days the phone in the Porter house has been ringing off the hook. Not from friends and family, but from a private number trying to get a vote.
"I get anywhere from twelve to fifteen calls a day," said James Porter.
With the Republican Presidential Primary days away candidates are doing everything even making house calls, but Porter says its overwhelming.
"We have been bombarded with these telephone calls," said Porter.
He says it's not just one candidate calling.
"John McCain calling, this one, that one, and it goes on day and night, we cant get any peace in our own home."
Porter, a retired veteran, says he has only heard negative things from the calls he has gotten.
"Nobody is saying anything about the country. Their main objective is to beat Obama. We are going to find someone who can beat President Obama and that should not be the objective of this campaign."
And he can't find a way to stop them.
"There is no way that we can respond to say we want you to reframe from calling, we cant talk to anyone because it is automated."
All he knows is after the primary he will be happy.
"It will be great; I can go back to normal living."
