Columbia, SC (WLTX) - When it comes to the Postal Service, you may have heard about price increases and potential closings.

But here in the Greater South Carolina District, they are looking for 180 new employees.

"Since so many people are looking for jobs right now I thought it would be good news," said Harry Spartlin with United States Postal Service.

The positions are entry level and would be part-time, but could lead to a more permanent job down the road.

Spartlin recognizes times are tough for the Post Office but they are still able to provide work.

"The Postal Service is in a bad financial circumstance right now because of the recession, and a boom in electronic communication. So, mail volume is down, but we still have to deliver the mail and we expand the number of delivery points every year by about three quarters of a million nationwide. We have to constantly hire new delivery employees and we have to have employees to move the mail," said Spartlin.

If you are interested in applying for one of the 180 jobs, you must apply online by clicking here.
