Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- A packed house at Benedict's Benjamin E. Mayes Health and Physical Education Center saw longtime rivals Benedict and Claflin square off in a basketball doubleheader.

In the women's game, Benedict survived a late rally by Clalfin to win 48-45. The visitors from Orangeburg missed a three-pointer at the end that would have sent the game into overtime. Claflin came out of the gates fast, jumping out to a 19-3 lead. But Benedict would chip away and eventually take a 29-21 lead at intermission.

The men's game saw Claflin win 77-58, thanks to a second-half surge. The Panthers led by just one at halftime, but used several big runs in the second half to pull away.
