Jean Dujardin is silently bewildered as "The Artist."

(WLTX) - Art-form imitates history in "The Artist."

I don't know if silent movies are making a comeback - but one is getting a lot of attention. The two leads of this little nostalgic opus are deservedly being recognized for some outstanding work. However, if there were a gold statue for Best Canine, we'd have another surefire nominee from "The Artist."

The story contains similarities to "Singing in the Rain" and "A Star Is Born." However, since it takes place during this transitional time in Hollywood, the silent concept carries much more relevance.

Some may see it as a pretentious gimmick. In a way, I do too. But I was still very taken with it and highly encourage everyone to check out this cinematic ode to a bygone era.

Just make sure you leave the cellphones at home. People want to be able to hear the movie!
